I seem to do much better when I get a handful of halves from the teller, than I do when I search boxes! Just finished two boxes, and only got a few NIFC Got $10 loose today, and got a '66 silver and, an 84-P with a folded over Rim Fin (thought I had a Cud at first!) and a minor collar clash.

Thank You, jbuck Today, went to get a box of nickels, asked about dollars and halves. Got one SBA and one half (couldn't get the nickels). Still, not a bad day at the bank

Thank You, E&V It's nice when the tellers don't know what they have!

The nearby Wells Fargo only had one half dollar when I checked today, a slightly battered 1971-D. The teller seemed apologetic, like she had disappointed me which of course was not the case. Then she said "but I have this." Weight checks out at 31.2 grams, it has a good ring tone when tapped at the rim, and is non-magnetic. Design elements look correct. Color is a little weird but maybe that's OK for an ASE that apparently circulated. I'll try giving it a quick dip in E-Z-Est and see how it looks. In any case, I want to reassure that teller that I'm a satisfied customer!

My old bottle of E-Z-Est is degraded, with the once-blue liquid more of a cloudy gray color, with sediment. I'll need to invest in a new bottle. Nevertheless the old stuff still works. After just a few seconds this bank find brightened up considerably. Looks like the real thing now, purchased for $1!
