The only way to learn is to post pics. Most CCF folks are friendly and knowledgeable.

You say you don't want to post your coins here because your afraid of being ridiculed . Of fake coins ? Or something else . Foolish because we have many experts on CCF that can tell if a coin is fake or genuine . Please feel confident in posting your coins here that you feel are rare errors .

Danaro, We all have made mistakes on our numismatic journeys, but in order to be a good collector, you must to be willing to take criticism and feedback from others, whether it is negative or positive. Not every coin you come across will be worth 1000$, but along the way, you will eventually find nicer coins later on. My very first coin that I posted on this site turned out to be an ordinary lightly circulated 1968 Jefferson nickel. Lastly, we are very willing to help you out with questions, otherwise we would not be on this site right now Happy collecting, Nieuw

Quote: I have Lincoln cents never before seen but I don't want but to post them to be let down. Danaro, we are not here to let you down. We are here to evaluate what is presented and give an honest opinion on what is presented. Quote: I Thought This Sight Was a Family Site, Where is The Love? How much love would we be sharing if we lied to you to make you feel better about a coin, and then you tried to sell the coin and found we lied to you? The "love" you reference is given here as fact and truth otherwise you would be getting deceit and lies. We do not personally know you. We do not personally have any reason to deceive you, and we certainly have nothing to gain by being dishonest. Bad news is not a lack of kindness. And I think you will find that if and when you post something that is a good find, you will see people here very happy for you as well. So please do brace yourself for bad news, but we will all hope for the best right along with you. After being on this forum now since 2011, I have not seen the advice or information given here as being anything but factual. We legitimately have some of the best hobby experts here as members of the CCF Family...and they/we all are willing to help the hobby grow by helpng each other..

It appears you are in the Chattanooga area. There are a few coins shops not too far from you. Suggest taking some of your coins in to have someone look at them. Or, visit the shop(s) ahead of time to build some trust first.

Echoing the above, the love comes from truth and (I'd like to think) friendliness. Inasmuch as it must be disappointing to hear that a coin you thought was a very rare mint error is simply damage accrued after leaving the mint, it's better you know the truth sooner rather than later.
You aren't being ridiculed, you're being told the truth. Sometimes the truth isn't what you want to hear, but it's what you need to hear. I love my friends very dearly and they me, but part of that love means keeping one another realistic and on the right path.
You're very welcome here, but it shouldn't be surprising that when you ask for opinions on things, you get exactly that.

Love is telling you the truth. Just the fact you are bracing for bad news makes me wonder if you are not confident with your coins. Easiest way is to show us SHARP photos of both sides on coin plus close-ups. As suggested, you could visit local coin shops, but you may not like what they say either. I suggest you start a new thread and show us the coin, and think positive rather than negative. We are sincerely here to help you.

Quote:I have 1943 Lincoln steel Wheat cent clashed die with the 1918 Mercury dimes reverse on obverse vice versa, and it's not a counterfeit. Well, you really need to post images so you can learn. That's because what you're saying here, sadly, doesn't even make sense. For what you are saying..... First, someone would've had to hang a die in 1943 from 25 years earlier. Then clash them, meaning run the press with NO planchets in the press so the dies just bang together. Then put a planchet in (Dime or cent, we don't know until you post a picture?) and strike it. So please just upload some pictures so you can get the truth, not uploading them will never get to the truth. There's no such thing as Schrodinger's Error Coin.

I have yet to see anyone act unkindly to you on this site, so I don't know what you're referring to with this post. You've posted a few coins now asking for people's input, and then when they tell you your coin isn't what you hoped it was you just respond with "well I have the coin right in front of me and you don't, and I can tell it's the error/variety/etc I think it is".
We are willing to help but it seems you won't take any advice that tells you your coin isn't what you think it is.

Honesty comes from a part of people that most dont have... Based off the images of coins I've boasted about in the past few days I can confidently say I know what I have and bringing it to the light, want reveal anything but darkness, I think I'll just cherish the privilege. Thinks guys! (meaning awake mainframe)
