I admit that I also thought this coin was at least a decent VF when I submitted it. After getting the coin back, I took a good look at the ANA Grading Standards for this coin and I must admit that the grade on the holder does pretty well match what's described between F12 and VF20.

Prethen can you give us at least 24hrs prior to posting the grade?

weak strike as the highest devices (lettering, date, hair tie) are all fairly sharp. the cheek still has some roundness. the lower half of the reverse is better struck than the upper half. looks like some type of planchet flaw at K10 on the reverse rim. maybe a newbie grader. whomever graded this was not proficient in old copper. I had this coin at VF30 but I cant see a TPG knocking this 15pts for the weak strike. imo its worth more than F15 $$

Panzaldi, I really appreciate your evaluation of the surfaces. Also, sorry for jumping the gun on revealing the grade. I normally do wait a bit longer.

I went for the extra 5 points over 20 just for the superb clean original surfaces, not often that you see a worn early copper with out some sort of problem or issue, like porous, pitting, corrosion, verdigris, etc. This is a really nice circulated example, very choice for the grade!
