i love this coin. the weak strike doesn't bother me as the overall coin has strong details. the full rounded cheek, lettering and date are sharp and prominent. the cheek and neck areas are exhibiting little if no wear. the obverse appears to have a slight red undertone to it which raises the eye appeal. the reverse is a little blotchy. the reverse may hold this one to XF40 but I'm in at XF45

We are all over the board on this one. I'm gonna come in at AU-53. I was gonna go higher until I saw all of the VF grades. I think I saw traces of luster up next to some of the devices. Unless this is from a cleaning and re-tone, I think it straight grades. What worries me is the spotting on the reverse may have tempted someone into a cleaning. I really like this coin and would be a proud owner if it was mine!

I am at 30/35. My guess is that PCGS gave it a 45.

These are not my forte but I will stick my neck out and say I see maybe a bit of luster on the obverse so going with XF40.

Awful, just kidding. This is by far the most undergraded coin I've seen. Ever. Just. Wow

Wow.

Well I just found the listing, and looks like the seller agrees with the undergrade, unfortunately. I'd be a buyer all day at F15 money, but sadly that's not the case.

I'd have no problem with a VF25 grade but 15 does sound low. I wonder if it's been net graded for something we can't see (like a rim issue).

Here's an identical variety that PCGS graded VF20. The subject coin here does look better. https://coins.ha.com/itm/large-cent...ot=1&x=0&y=0

Not entirely surprised. I think the purity of this specimen may produce an upward grade bias.

I am not surprised. Although most probably a weak strike on the obverse, it is the obverse that would have made me grade lower than I actually reported.

Sometimes I will openly disagree with the slab grading, but not in this case.
