Appears to be a struck through error, but something more substantial than grease, not totally sure what.

Should I hang on to it hoping that it is worth more than 5 cents or just spend it? I am just getting started as a coin collector but as a college student, I cant keep stuff around that doesn't have any extra value. Thanks again!.

Maybe better terminology instead of grease would be Die Fill but it is certainly struck through something.

That's definitely a keeper if you can spare five cents. I bet someone would pay you a few dollars for it.

Looks like a huge strike through to me. Very cool find! Certainly a keeper if you can spare it. Should hold a premium above face value.

Or struck through debris, like cardboard/grease.

Great follow-on photos. Very nice find. Should be worth a few dollars++. So much for a full steps designation...

A better pic of the obv. There is one in the first post but blurry
I think its a perfect coin to ship off to ANACS. I came back to this thread, a few more times than I usually would a nickel, just to look at it again. Its in great condition. And NO, DO NOT SPEND IT.
