Quote: Grape - why don't those marks on the 1807 appear in the first pic? Scratches on the holder, has to do with angle of lighting. Quote: other than ugly Ben Point me to a pretty one and I'll buy it. Quote: Fantastic! Thanks! Quote: GREAT looking set. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed building it, though it's nice to have done. Means I'm one step closer to finishing out the set. By my definition of a type set I'm only missing 15 coins, though those 15 coins are quite pricy.

Quote: Lovely coins! I especially like the Barber. Thanks! I actually think I paid full greysheet retail for it, but considering the excellent eye appeal I think I did quite well. Quote: Very well done and a tip of my cap as a fellow collector. Thanks! This is the second denomination I've completed, and if it weren't for paypal holding my money for no reason I'd have a third done... Quote: Grape - Got it, thanks.

It is interesting how much lighting, etc. can come into play with photos and coins in general. When I saw the initial picture of all 11 coins, I have to admit - being completely honest here - my thought was meh. But your individual pictures really show off the beauty of each of these coins and my initial thought was completely reversed. They are fantastic and what a set! Beautiful; congratulations and nice work!

Cool set. I'm curious - what makes the 2014-D a different "type"? Is it just the hair?

@kbbpll,
It's meant to represent the 1971-Date Clad non bicentennial design. It just came to be that 2014-D is the cheapest date in MS-68

Nice set Grape a real feather in your cap! That 1834 really shows the darker look as I thought it might have in the group shot. While it's still a gorgeous coin, that portrait shot on the white background just looked a bit juiced to me. I still can't believe I nailed that grade when you posted it. Your walker is also a stunner coin. Thanks for sharing your half dollar collection with us.

Thanks WestCoin! I anticipated it being darker in hand as well. From my experience most bust coins toned like this, and most Seated coins toned like this, are often somewhat dark without proper lighting. That being said it is very attractive all the same. The walker is really nice, the toning is subtle but only serves to highlight the coin while the luster and strike really carry the coin. Considering I paid under sheet value for it I think I did excellent on it. Also, pending a final coin being delivered I'll have another denomination ready to showcase next week, and a third denomination the week after. I'm definitely making progress.
