Yes, this is a genuine incomplete clip (incomplete punch). Nice find.

That's so cool! I rarely see these pop up, this is a tough error to find.

Thanks folks! Appreciate the verification as well Mike, as I was pretty darn sure of it but nice to actually know that it is.

I have been aware of this type of error for a long time, so whenever I see a curved bit on a coin I check it out. Always it is a hit or squeeze from another coin making the arc, usually seemingly accidental but in some cases looking pretty intentional. But as soon as I saw this one it jumped out. It did not look at all like the vise jobs and all those damaged coins. As soon as I put it under the scope I was all but certain. Kinda made made morning, as it is, well, my birthday.

Happy B-Day!
Thanks Mike for your input. The reason I asked was because I was unsure about where the arc ends on the rim looked odd to me.

Congrats TB. Nice B-day present.

I was certain it was as well since there was no pressure ridge anywhere along the depression like we see from PSD. Also, where it crosses the rim looked like the weakness we see (from the upturning machine) on regular clips.

Towards Will's question- this happened to the planchet when it was being punched out of the sheet, so pre-strike.
