There is definite wear on the headdress and the eagle's shoulder and friction in the fields. The various contact marks and hairline scratches don't seem severe enough to warrant a "details" grade. AU-50 seems about right.

Looks more like cleaning scratches rather than hairlines. I say AU details, cleaned.

Look like it could have had a light cleaning but definitely market acceptable. I think its either low AU or xf45. Looks a little worn for AU and has some hair lines. not a bad coin.
The rim in front of the actual rim does NOT look mint made. Maybe it was in a bezel for some time, Hard to say

Congrats for getting your first gold Indian.

Thanks again y'all!

Jon, the idea of it having been in a bezel makes a lot of sense to me now that you mention it. The condition of the reeding seems inconsistent with the wear on the faces and that would explain it. Thank you!

It may have just gotten like that from being in ceriain coin holders for years. doesn't look too much like there was a bezel. Might just be wear, and the perimeter changed color a bit.

Fair enough. I've been jumping to conclusions about it all day, the initial excitement hasn't worn off. :)

I traded into this half eagle yesterday,

What did you trade...curious?

I'm at EF-45/AU-50...little concerned about the surface scratches.

Nice 1st year!

I think there's too much wear for this to be AU. I'd say XF-40 at best.

Thanks fellas, I want to hope for AU but my personal guess was 35-45 also!

Smat, I traded a nifty little pocket knife. A Microtech Combat Troodon if that means anything to you. :)
