58 slider for me as well. Not worth the grading fee but still a nice example of a 121 year old coin.... and to the CCF!!

Nice looking AU-58. Very few contact marks, and only light evidence of circulation.

I tried more photos after a quick dip in acetone. Hope this helps.

Still at AU-58. Coin seems lifeless.

@coinfrog Lifeless? Just a flat dull surface?

Indeed, from what you have shown us. I do not mean to offend. Others may feel differently.

@coinfrog No offense taken. I figured that was what you ment but wanted to be sure. I'll take criticism without issue, so long as it's not in a negative condescending manner. It's how we learn.

the new photos are much better to assess from. the coin is quite lifeless. I was at AU58/MS63 leaning AU but I think this coin could be MS albeit on the low side. the rub area to the right of the eagle is a concern to me as I dont think that would occur naturally. someone may have attempted to soften the scratches in that area. MS61/62 possible altered surface

I say AU58. Can the lifelessness be due to old cleaning?

Wonder what the coin looks like in-hand under different light sources. The 'dullness' could be a function of the photography set up. I'm still good with MS62.

The second set of photos is much better. Whether AU-58 or low MS, the luster is definitely muted, perhaps from a past dipping? I'm leaning towards an AU slider.
