Quote: it's die damage, maybe a trail die. The majority of the 21's I've looked at have that "trail". I was thinking a trail as well. Yes, I did list the cracked die on COC.

These are some great examples. I like them all and don't want to put limits on what people might post. I like "Abby Normal" die damage. TB, that 1988 P has to be one of the craziest ever. Coop, some of those die breaks can get knarly. 11997755: Thanks for that 1972D Nickel with the "Mississippi River" die crack or funky gouge. -makecents- That 2021 P with possible Trail Die @ 1 reminded me of the 1983D DDO-001 Doubled Ear. http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20...3DDDO001.htmlawest: that left wheat on that 1952 sure has an irregular shape to that pre-cud and those lines on the 1961 look like the die had worms. LOL AS I mentioned I love them all especially the severe ones, but I'm hoping to see more irregular and atypical die damage like TB's, Lawest, and 11997755 with atypical shattered/broken/damaged dies. (Or even funky/odd clashes or counter clashes.) Dies that make us go "Huh?" or "I wonder what caused that?" or "Looky there! " Thanks again everyone.

Ya want strange, well here's one. A big, hard bit of something got in there during what was probably a strike without a planchet and damaged both dies. It also cracked the reverse die, which got listed as UDC-1c-1983-03.

I've found many clashes but only one Radical MAD clash. MDC-1c-1997-02 This was one of the later die stages, after the obverse had been changed out, so no clash on my obverse.

I love these beasts. -83 had a lot going on that year. Plenty of examples of all kinds of errors and varieties. -That 2012 and 1997 are ones I haven't come across before. Other die damage that I have come across seem to be much more subtle. I guess that is why the severe ones always make me smile. Enjoy your Labor Day cookouts!

Bought a few rolls of BU 70-S and did not find any small dates or doubled dies but did find this guy. Looks like a pre-cud on the north end of the obverse too. CU-1c-1970S-02-LD

Not sure if this image will come out well, I'm on mobile. Also not sure what this error actually is or if it counts here but I just found it today and like it quite a bit. Managed to edit down a better shot here

@peasantking your DC quarter is just post mint damage, not the result of a strike with a damaged die.

Thanks to all for taking the time to look and add comments or more examples "to feed the need".(or even links to ones others have come across.) That obverse Cud on that '70S is strong enough to affect the reverse strike details and rim. That '74 half might be struck through something if there's no damage on the reverse opposite to the incuse area. The mint got their money's worth on the reverse die for that '54S. Nice rim Cud and "wheat bugs".
