Yes, it's a BIE. A BIE is a BIE, big or small. You really should get THE book.

Nice BIE, reverse holds the grade down. Very common in MS.

I was always under the impression if there is a die chip there then its a BIE. I see it more as a way of noting the presence of a die chip rather than actually having to actually look like an I is there.

It's not really the size of the thing, but just being located on LIBERTY and meeting a minimum other criteria. Lots of "BIE" coins do not even have the break between the B and the E, let alone look like an I. It is a convenient catch-all term and not meant to be taken literally. And yes, I have the BIE Handbook (that really is what it's called) and there are gobs and gobs of these things recorded and numbered. But honestly I just use cuds-on-coins.com to attribute them and if it isn't on there I submit it for a new listing even if it's in the old book. The more that in the online catalog, which is fully cross-referenced to the books, the easier it is for everyone to figure out what they've got.

You are always tough on me. I find a coin not quite right, I post a picture. The forum is a virtual library, there are very knowledgeable cats out there. I always appreciate your opinion or thoughts.

And for those not familiar with the site or without a book on BIE's:

Here are some definitions as listed in the Glossary of Jean Cohen's "The Classification and Value of Errors on the Lincoln Cent", 1969.

BIE as an error - A die break between the letters B and E of LIBERTY

BIE as a category - Includes all die breaks between the letters in LIBERTY. As an example, a die break between R and T of LIBERTY would be included in the BIE category.

BIE (associated) - Any small or light error between the letters in LIBERTY, or those that extend from the top or bottom of the letters
