I think the field scratches will hold this to MS details.

Is that a VAM 9 I spy with my Morgan eye? Or do said eyes deceive me and it's something entirely different (14.1? Another VAM?) MS62 no matter the variety. Those dies were definitely nearing end of life. Super special coin if it is a V9.

Barely makes MS60 but 8TF is always nice to have!

Nice variety with many die cracks. MS-61, although the hairlines have a good chance of detailing the coin.

Thank you all for your opinions on the Morgan. I got too busy and missed the end of the auction. Not sure what the hammer price was.
Edit: I believe this may be VAM-12
Edit2: Coin hammered at $160

I'll go MS-62 on this one, nice pictures. I will also go with a VAM 9.

I think this may have been a 62 if not detailed. It is not a VAM 9.

Panzaldi -- I noticed the same thing--eagle with the 'tooled' breast.

I've seen a good number of the '78 reverse Morgans with this "diamond" in the breast. I wonder if it is a characteristic of a particular die rework.
