If not struck through...maybe planchet flaws...?
Looking under the date in the denticals...seems from the pic...something going on under 187?
I looked on indianvarieties.com to see if there were an RPD. There are 5 known...4 with pictures and one without. I don't have the Snow book, but S-1 is RPD-002 without the pic...so I can't rule it out. Maybe someone more familiar with the series or with a book can confirm?

MS-63 Brown for me based on the images available. The color of the coin is so dark and that's preventing me from detecting all the scratches. I cannot find any details that would tell me this has been in circulation. The color of the coin is confusing me: I don't know what the metal had to react with to get this weird color with tiny spots on it. I also see something on the reverse that looks like a die crack, but I cannot confirm as I would need a higher resolution to confirm that.  |

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll post this in the variety forum to see if anyone has the Snow reference.
@Aref I believe that is a crack and it is a common place for these on the series.

Ok after I look at it more it looks like a brown Indian cent. I thought it was shiny from being whizzed at first glance nice coin. Edited by jessvc1

I'm not seeing any signs of cleaning or whizzing. copper ages in all kinds of ways depending on how it was stored. the color doesn't bother me as to not being authentic. theres even hints of red peaking through. I think the two depressions under the shield were on the original planchet. this cannot occur after minting as the shield would have been impacted as well.
i think it has a shot at MS64BN

Thanks panzaldi, I would be ecstatic if it graded MS64. This coin is en route to Tucson to meet with the eyeballs of Rick Snow. If all goes well there I will likely send this coin to PCGS and update this topic with the results.
