I'm not certain about the small vs large star designation, but I do think there is a trace of wear on the breast and leg.

It is the large star variety.

I could see this as low Unc or AU-58. I don't see any signs of cleaning.

I've seen quite a few that look like this. old dipping and the chem was not removed properly. over the years this black/green mottled toning rears its head. I'm betting a while ago this coin was blast white from the dip. the coin is not MS. an acetone soak may help but also could make it worse leaving more of a mottled look if it doesn't remove everything

Thanks everyone for all your inputs. Much appreciated. I did treat this with acetone but it did not remove anything so I knew it was real toning but as it was so unappealing, decided to dip it and now it's with NGC. Will post the results in 6 weeks time :-). Fingers crossed :-)
