The Privy Mark not put there by the US Mint IMHO can be considered deception and just another chance to profit on a process the Mint initiated.

The "40" mark strikes me (no pun intended) as a counter-stamp vs. a privy mark. I believe the modern bullion coins from the national mints of the US, Canada, Australia, etc. have their special marks engraved into the dies and are struck as part of the design (in relief) vs. being stamped into the coin's surface after minting - at least that's the case for the ones I have.
(I could be wrong, just my initial impressions from the images provided.)

If you or I counterstamped an ASE and sent it to ANACS it would be bodybagged. But if we sent in 15,000, we would get a special label. Quote:

I concur with Coincollector, NGC, PCGS and CACG would certainly concider it graffiti and grade it as such, if at all. At the end of the day, foolish collectors will buy them thinking otherwise.

ANACS does slab error coins, however I think ANACS made an error slabbing these.......oh wait....money talks.

Havent heard of that one. What did they do? It's fairly well known, let me explain. We're all familiar with the 1995 American Eagle 10th Anniversary Set. It's where the 1995W silver eagle came from. All of them started out in one of these sets. The first year of release of the silver and gold American eagles was 1986. So I'd imagine that the US Mint, at least in 1995, and Mike the coin huckster, are using the year that the Eagle Coin program was signed into legislation, 1985, as the year to use to come up with this anniversary date. In all ALL other anniversary sets, 1986 was used, for example the 20th Anniversary set, 2006, 25th Anniversary set 2011, 30th Anniversary lettered edge ASEs (no set for that) 2016. They didn't do anything for the 35th anniversary. I think they missed an easy chance to celebrate. Instead of the lame "Designers Set", they could have simply named that the 35th anniversary set, or to that effect. But yes in 2021 they changed the design. Edited by Gilly

Is this the Same " TV- coins Mike ": That cuddled up to Another Country and Assisted in making replicas of the Morgan and Peace dollars of 2022.. How did those 2022 sets work out ? IMO, The entire American Silver Eagles Series seems to be under-pressure to Use the World famous, Most recognizable Bullion to promote games, To capture a new collectors base,  advancing Who's agendas. Certainly not the Collectors that stood bye and purchased Every Single Mint Marked ASE to date, along with the ASE's Bullion series Collector's Too. I'm contemplating counterstamping an ASE with an outhouse stamp and sending it to ANACS. I'll tell them it's my private privy mark and demand a special label declaring it so. Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

If ebay is any indication, they are doing pretty good actually I bought his set as a curiosity, the back story seemed legit US Mint didn't make the RP Peace and Morgan dollars because of the Covid-19 related silver shortage So the CSN got Fiji to make them These still sell for outrageous prices on ebay but I got my set from a local dealer for at a great price Edited by Boba Debt
