Question:Is it important when considering purchasing my first metal detector to have a feature called "Automatic ground tracking"?.please advise.Thanks.

Hope you dont mind but I moved your post to the Metal Detecting forum !!

Auto trac is a very nice feature especially if your soil conditions are widely varied !!

This allows you to move with the detector without having to stop and re balance the machine each time the composition changes ,, Is it necessisary, no not really but it sure simplifies the effort !!

I have to tell you beyond coins Metal detecting has been one of my most rewarding Hobbies.

Keep us up to speed with your purchase and then share the finds we love to se them !!

I use a whites, but there are many good detectors on the market..

probly the most frequent entry level detector I hear about lately id the Garretts Ace 250 ,, from what I hear its an affordable well equiped detector .
