Most definitely dipped and cleaned - the color is a dead give away. Grade? NO way is it MS68 In fact the preeminent grading company in the world PCGS has never graded an IHC of this date higher than MS67 and that one is valued at $26,500 if you could find it and purchase it. For a good lesson on grading and learning more about Indian Head cents see my friend Rick Snow's web site, he is the leading expert on them, a fair dealer, and all around good guy! http://www.indiancent.comHe also has links to his Indian Head cent grading videos. For your coin I'd place the grade between VF35 to EF45 but the cleaning will hurt the value I'd put a value on this coin around $45-60 USD. As to the fact you say it is slabbed - that means nothing unless it's in an original/genuine ANACS, NGC, PCGS, ICG, SEGS, PCI holder which I'd bet it's not, especially with the MS68 grade you say it lists. An impossible coin if it really were a true MS68RD IHC the price would be well over $50,000 for sure, and whomever had it would not have too much trouble selling at for that price either. Return this coin, avoid this auctioneer in the future, stick around learn by visiting sites like Heritage Auction and Rick Snow's site to understand what to really look for on this great series of American coins (both of those websites have some of the best photos of the best Indian Head cents around) use them to get an education.

Yes, I am using many sites to grade Indians, but as I said, there were poor pics at auction. When coin arrived, I was quite worried about this and you guys helped me. I will return this coin. This coin was grade by polish grading service and I think they don't know what they doing:) Thank you for your help.

I think this coin may be fake. The date looks strange and too large. The denticles on the reverse looks awful and the weaknss through out makes me worried. The surfaces look rough too. Fake or not, it's not an MS68 and looks cleaned anyways. I would definitely return it.

Agreed. The whole thing looks "off."

PCG - Polskie Centrum Gradingu. What do you think about genuine of this coin? Seller send me offer - he wants to send me LC from photo and I can keep both coins, without cash back. I don't know what to do, if this IHC is genuine, I think this offer is quite nice, but if it is a fake, then I will return coin.

Return the IHC that you purchased and run from this seller. Obviously cleaned and retoned coins are how they are making money.

this doesn't smell right. I'd doubt the authenticity of the LC too...it looks like it was just struck and could be worth thousands if genuine in that grade.

My first impressions as well--since I look at the date first on IHCs (well on all coins actually) The date is not right for starters. Compare the oval inner loops of a genuine PCGS-certified coin to the OP's circular loops.

Quote: I'd doubt the authenticity of the LC too] It does not match any Newcomb variety for that year.

As regards the 1828, I see no flags against authenticity but I don't like the color even a little bit. A datapoint: Heritage Auctions has 215 records for 1828 Large Cent sales. Not a single one was adjudicated "Red."
Someone tried to remove that fingerprint on the obverse, and wrecked the coin.
