Will Dansco (and/or the rest of coin book makers) ever start to include a few "slots" for error coins?

Or offer books with such slots "only" for error coins?

Then there is the problem of broad strikes. The best of that kind are huge.

Some error coins are just plain ugly ... and sometimes are hard to see if the damage is in the rim-reed area.

Of course they should continue to offer the tradition books for the traditional collector.

Sound off.

Oh ... the coin below is my heart stopper

yeah its simply easier and more cost effective for the companies to offer blank albums vice ones for varieties. Not everyone collects all types/years of varieties, and some varieties - like the 1878-1921 Morgans Dollars - have new VAM's found as recently as last year. Plus like the pic shows above, there isn't' a good solid pattern that will fit the odd shaped coins, be it off center, broadstruck, clipped, brokerage, indented, capped or double/triple struck.

I recommend buying a label maker and creating your own custom album. Depending on the type of tape and its adhesive used, if it is kind of hard to remove, you could lay a single piece of 3-m scotch tape down first on the album, then put the label on the scotch tape. That way if you want to change the layout it may save from ruining the album. Just some thoughts....

You know can buy the blank pages and silk screen or have printed or even custom laser engrave on the blank dansco pages so it not stickers or tape.

I kind of have to chuckle at the uncreative minds that tell people how to collect their coins. Whatever though, we´re free to do as we please, that´s why it´s fun. Get some 2x2s that house Ikes and leave it at that.

This.

There is just too much variety in error coins, there is no way to accommodate the possibilities with a few extra slots in one album. They are best housed in cardboard 2x2s and vinyl pages.

No, simply because many errors are not a standard size so they will not fit in a round album hole.

Also an album can ruin a BU coin. Here is an example of a Whitman toning:

Silver also turns in the blue albums:

So not a good place to store them, unless you want them toned.

Coop, the bottom photo is a folder, not an album. Albums may not be perfect, but they are still better than folders.

Dansco already made a specially produced error album. They're tough to find though.

Now we are cooking. Please add any info ... I follow this thread.

My particular interest is in Kennedy half, Ike dollars, ... some interest in quarter and dime.

Another thing to keep in mind is that where you keep your albums has more to do with it than the albums alone. My oldest Dansco albums are almost thirty years old. I have had no problems with them toning the coins beyond what they may have had when added to the album.
