This coin unfortunately has some rim damage as you can see, which doesn't bother me too much since it is an album coin now. Also, curious strike weakness at 5oclock. I think I got a heck of a deal on it though, considering the value of higher grade 1886 type 2 coins. Guess at the grade? Also, how would you value it?

EF details (only due to the rims), Grease Filled Die, weakly struck at the 5:00 obverse area.

thanks for the comments. Agree with westcoin, EF details, but only real problem is the rim issue. The strike weakness may account for some of the lower grades, but most of the coin is clearly XF. I paid $46 for it, and it is a $150 coin in XF....so I think I did ok, even if it isn't quite problem free. I believe the surfaces are uncleaned and original.

Not a bad price at all, I think without the Grease Filled Die strike or weak strike, this would be an easy EF coin. The rims are all that really are detrimental to the grade IMO. Heck even if you took 50% off the EF price you still stole this coin at $46.00!

In my opinion they have very similar details. I wonder if our coins were struck one after other and how looked they "life" from "birth" to day, when we bought these Indians. I think this would be awesome history.

looks like a die progression one after another from the same Grease Filled Die! Cool!
