And don't forget, I'll start this thread off. Today, I found a 1921-D (AG-3) Mercury dime for spot! It has a little bit of damage, but I'll take it anyway. I will add photos tomorrow. It's my first 2-cent coin, very worn and damaged with corrosion, but the date is barely visible as 1864. The price was 50 cents (!), so I'll consider it a bargain. Report this Post to the Staff
Kellikae Valued Member United States 113 Posts	Posted 08/02/2014 5:10 pm I know my finds aren't valuable in terms of $$$ but my local LCS has a large bin with lots of Irish coins in good shape. Not any silver finds but I do collect any Irish and at .15 each, I make a nice haul for less than a dollar each time. Report this Post to the Staff
Lucky Cuss Pillar of the Community United States 4883 Posts	Posted 08/02/2014 6:37 pm I've found that pawn shops can be prone to putting remarkably nice coins in their "junk silver" bins. I've snagged several BU Franklins and 1964 Kennedy's for their bullion value in this fashion. My best pawn shop score of this sort was the one pictured below, which I've shown before here, an 1880 Philly that's prooflike. It had just (actually as I standing there) been put in a tray with other Morgans that were in various states of circulation, your choice melt + $5. Pretty much a no-brainer to pluck it out of there.
