2006 Nickel - Coin Community Forum

hpgeno New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 12/10/2007 12:26 am I have a 2006 nickel that appears extremely bronze/copper in color. I have compared this with another 2006 nickel I have and it appears normal/silver in color. Could this copperish nickel be a rare mistake that might have some value to it? coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 12/10/2007 3:11 pm Nickels do contain 75% copper/25% Nickel. I've noticed a few that look like that from time to time. Usually they are dull finished. I always thought they were tampered with. But don't know for sure what you have with no image. But the description sounds right. Or... It could be a Nickel struck on a plated Cent planchet with that color.
