terry8835 Pillar of the Community United States 1450 Posts	Posted 04/14/2015 7:56 pm I completed my Liberty Walker collection with a 1921-D that was in VF condition. I got a deal on it because I traded in a 1926-S Peace dollar and a 1916 Liberty Walker in good condition. I was really choking for some reason when it came to filing in the last two coins which were 1921 and 21-D. Now I would like to get me a better 1938-D than what I have. It is onward and upward with the Peace dollars. Perhaps I will also collect the Mercury dimes and Liberty Standing quarters. I like the 20th Century coins. What does the group thing about the Franklin halves and Roosevelt dimes. These are silver coins. Even the Washington quarters are silver until 63-64. I know they made a lot to them but they are cheap to me. The Buffalo nickels also are talking to me. These are the coins I tried to collect in my youth. Now I am an old geezer and want some short term goals. What could be better than to collect these unique coins? When I start to take my IRA and take distributions from my annuity perhaps I will collect the double eagles. I have focused on just one coin at a time so far. Do most of you guys collect multiple coins at the same time or just one or two? When I collect just one it is easy to get anxious about filling in the holes and pay too much. woodcr Valued Member United States 403 Posts	Posted 04/14/2015 8:18 pm I need 1 Mercury dime, guess which one, I need 3 buffalo's 13d,s TII, 1914d,I need 9 walkers,I need 20 morgans,I have completed Washington quarters and Roosevelt dimes,I need 3 wheat cents not counting the 22 plain which is annoying me because the album makers include it when they should not,I am getting ready to start Peace dollars, I have the 23 in a.u. and will start picking them up a few at a time, I need a good place to buy the Peace dollars, still looking I saw the member sales site is looking like more activity. I am afraid to start collections because I know I will feel driven to complete them heh, heh. What the heck, I could be spending my money at the track or speculating in gold mining shares. Bertensgrad Pillar of the Community United States 1192 Posts	Posted 04/14/2015 9:40 pm I collect similar coins. I would definitly start your mercs if you love walkers. They are so closely related in time period and having the same designer. Walkers just wear a little harder then then mercs. I collected mercs and silver Rosie's first. Rosie's are fun cause if you like circulated you can get them at 1.40 apiece and are widely available at all dates. GR58 Bedrock of the Community United States 11951 Posts	Posted 04/14/2015 9:59 pm Nice work ... completing your Walker set. I still need several. Picking another series, can be a hard choice. Many of the classic sets will have several harder key/semi key coins. The Mercury dime set, is not a bad set. Depending on which brand album you buy there is three main coins. 1916D, 1921 and 1921D. Seems like there is one brand of album that needs a 1942/1 and 1942/1D. Indian Head/Buffalo nickel has several expensive coins. And most of the early coins are hard to locate in better grades. One set I have been working... slowly working, is 2 1/2 gold Indian set. It is a short set and only has one hard date coin. It looks great in a Capital coin holder. Or some will do the set in graded slabs. The set, not counting proof coins, is 15 coins. Each coin might run from $190 to $300, except the 1911D which lists $565 in G4 to $4500 in AU. I have 6 different dates right now .. but for me it is a long term project. The coins are about the size of a dime. Here is a example. Report this Post to the Staff
