What do you think this would grade and is this a double die? I took a look at my cherry pickers book and there's only 2 dd listings, both on the reverse but the right side of the obverse is where I think is a doubled die. Let me know what you think of the grade and if it's a DDO. Thank you. The coin has a very beautiful red green and yellowish toning going on. Subtle but under light it is very clearly seen and can be seen in the images.

Can't really help you but I had to comment that it has some beautiful toning on it. I don't really know how to grade these but this can't be no less than an AU. I see some ares of rub but it might be because of a weak strike or that's how it's suppose to look? Like I said I don't know this series.

Oscar, I'm very suspicious of the coloration of this coin. Pink on a 2-cent piece is an immediate red flag that the coin has likely been played with. Yes, the coloration looks beautiful but I would have my doubts that many would consider this NT (natural). Otherwise, I think the strike is great and it has choice MS details.

This is a nice looking coin that seems to be MS to me, but I'm suspicious about the color.

Before I rip into this coin I have to say I would love to add it to my collection. Finding 2 Cents in anything like this condition is not easy these days.

First your double question. the Two Cent series has many varieties, Re-tooling on the lettering is so common its hard to find one that has not been re-tooled. I don't mean post mint either this was done on the dies. That being said from the pictures you have posted I will tentatively confirm its a double die. The doubling is not just on the lettering but also on the ribbon.
The colour is very scary. I have had similar ones in the past that have been chemically treated. Sometime the treater does not know what long term effect the treatment will have. I would suggest an airtite for the coin lest it end up like this

Grade. Based on the pictures I will say MS62 the Arrows are not a defined as they could be and its not a strike issue as the rest of the coin is sharp. The leaves on the left are showing signs of wear as the central vein does not travel all the way down. The scrolling on the shield shows some rub but this may just be the lighting. Some nice die scratches on Trust and a Die crack on the D of God. The ribbon should be a lot sharper even if doubled. The corn ears on the right also show signs of light wear.
All this is from memory as I don't have any of my reference material here in Brazil. As usual there are a lot a things I will have missed. Perhaps Tpatna will be along later and have time to look at Flynn to give you a variety number on this one. From memory it not in Breen but I am fairly certain its listed in Flynn. Please have an experienced dealer look at the coin to check the toning. I would hate to see it turn.

I bought it from a coinshop I visit regularly. On coins that have been cleaned, he labels them as so and nets down a grade or two. This one wasn't labeled as cleaned and I asked him and he took a second look and says looked ok to him. He's been always honest with me so maybe he can't tell if it is cleaned or not?
Thank you nohope587 for the detailed and informative reply. Hopefully Tpatna sees this. Thanks!

Maybe I'm influenced by the snazzy colors, but this one looks uncirculated to me. The grade would likely be limited by the scattered small carbon spots and the two larger spots near "2 Cents". There seems to be good luster and decent mint frost overlaying the fine details in the wreath and leaves. I could see this piece as MS-63 RB.

If the coin was artificially toned, it was well done. The colors aren't too blotchy and seem pretty well blended. If this were my coin I would consider investing the fee to have it graded. If PCGS or NGC considers it OK to slab, that would be good enough for me!

Sorry (but not surprised) to hear that. If only people would quit dinking around with these old coins!
