I found a 1966 Canadian Cent that looks like a major error. Question: did the RCM mint any coins for any other countries in or around 1966? Thanks.

This is a list of countries the RCM minted coins for: http://www.coinscan.com/for/foreign.html

I'm sorry I don't have the time to look for a specific year now but you might find it helpful.

My first thought is off center strike, but I know nothing about Canadian coins. What occurs to me is that it would be a good idea to measure the diameter, thickness and take the weight then compare those numbers to what the specs are supposed to be.

Interesting.

I don't believe that there were any foreign coins minted in Ottawa in 1966. Doesn't look like acid caused it to be underweight.

It's way underweight, 3.24 g, need a XRF for a composition, could be a neat error

Looks like an AJ. to me. Not an error coin in my opinion.

AJ? Acid job?

The rim at around 2pm seems oversized to me--a little off centre. Doesn;t seem consistent with acid. Plus the coin doesn't have the usual mottled look.

The effigy and maple leaves look like they weren't fully formed...not enough metal to fill the die?

What do the edges look lie? Any signs of tampering?

what does the rim look like? especially on the south end of the coin? I am thinking might be some sort of capped strike, off center?

I am sure SPP has a better idea as well.
