I've learned a long time ago to not spend the rebate money till I have it. Years ago there was mention of a rebate and it sparked a question on Johnny Carson when He was going his "Carnack The Magnificent" bit. That was where he held an envelope to his head and said the answers, then opened the envelope and read the question.

So what were the answers?
Big foot, flying saucers and the $50 rebate.
The question inside the envelope?
Name three things were always hear about but never see?

So I've learned not to spend money that is not in my hand yet.....

Soap Box Alert.....

Unbelieveable! Where is this money going to come from? I guess they don't understand that prinicipal about cash flow - cash flows in and cash flows out. They're missing that whole part about needing cash to flow in before it flows out.

I'm married w/3 kids. My family is going to get $2100. I'm assuming that's on top of the rebate that I'm going to get for 2007. I get a rebate, not because I overpay throughout the year, but because with the itemized deductions, childtax credit, education credits, and all the other credits and deductions I don't have to pay any federal taxes. I get a refund of EVERY cent I pay in - PLUS I get a rebate on top of that. The governement is paying me to live here. My family income is almost $70,000 per year and I don't have to pay any taxes. How much sense does that make?!?

Our country is spending $275,000,000 per day on war. EVERY DAY - $275,000,000! The country is $9 Trillion is debt. That is $9,000,000,000,000! And I don't pay any taxes. Now they are going to give me $2100 to 'stimulate the economy'. Thats like me going and getting a cash advance on my credit card, giving the money to my wife to spend to stimulate our household economy.

OMG what is going on? (Maybe all the money is coming from the sales of 'First cover Presidential dollars' and silver proof sets of Bald Eagle commemorative clad half dollars.)

No, I'm not going to send the check back when I get it but if we had to vote on it, I'd vote "No, we shouldn't get a tax refund."

Oh, sorry, that wasn't the question.

What will I buy? 1936, 37, and 38 Canadian silver dollars. Hopefully by then the market will slide down some more so I can pick up some bargain stocks and I'll put the rest into my Roth IRA. (Where yet again, I won't have to pay any taxes when I withdraw the money).

I know you don't often hear people complain about NOT paying taxes, but seriously - this is rediculous!

haha karrlot...finally someone that understnds! Everyone I talk to about this is so excited and gitty as if for some reason this is a good thing that will help us....ahahha whatch the economy tank right after these "rebates" hit.

But......I plan on spending all of it to be off some of my debt. The way I see it, this is extra money that I don't really "need", as in if I didn't have it I would not go hungry. So I figure it will best be served if it comes in and goes right back out--from the gov't to the banks....talk about a crappy deal!

Oh, come on - be patriotic - help out the country - go to StuffMart and buy some imported, cheap, plastic stuff made in a sweat shop by child labor. If you really cared about this country - you'd go blow your money...
