I ordered a bag of 100 Saratoga quarters from the US Mint last week. They arrived today.
Gorgeous!! And I got the ones with the S-mark too.
I will keep the best examples, give some to friends I'm trying to interest in coins, and put a few weaker examples into circulation so someone can have some NIFC coin roll hunting fun.

Congratulations. Since you are being kind enough to circulate some of them I hope you have great karma and find a cool error.

My cellphone camera is not very good but I will try to get some photos of the Saratogas tomorrow. I also got some Kennedy Presidential dollars but they do not seem to be as well-struck as the Saratogas, lots of nicks and discolorations. I am not impressed with them. I will put some of both sets into circulation. . .Yes, I paid the mint premium to get them so this is not something I can afford to do too often, but I figure it will create enjoyment for someone to find a Saratoga-S quarter in their change someday.

I will be taking a road trip this weekend, so I will be putting Saratoga-S quarters into circulation all up and down I-35, buying coffee at truck stops.

I may have to check some truck stops in Texas if you're going to be in this neck of the woods!

Alas, Celtic, I will be in Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa.
However, I tend to do a lot of traveling in the spring and summer on business...spreading the NIFC love may become a habit. . .

Am I correct to assume that the coins in a 100 count bag are loose and not rolled?

100 would be a good quantity to buy, but not loose in a bag if you want to minimize dings and scratches. I still think it's a rip that the -S quarters are not included in the mint sets.

OK here are some shots of the Saratoga-S quarter. I apologize for the poor quality of the photography. The coins look much better in person.

So....what has happened with the 100 Saras-S?
I am keeping the prettiest 10. I gave two to my son. So that leaves 88 to spend/distribute.
4 were spent at Starbucks in Lawrence KS yesterday 1 used in a parking meter in Lawrence KS this morning 1 spent at Starbucks this afternoon
82 left.

Beautiful quarters! I remember when they were released in Saratoga back in November- I was working as a designer for the Saratoga newspaper, and the editor brought in a bag of uncirculated and proof coins...with the signature from the designer. I'm still jealous...really gotta order some.
