I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience buying large amounts of coins at or below wholesale prices. If so, whom do you recommend?

No for me.......but just don't fall for the "never been picked through" trick. Always assume they've been carefully picked through, leaving you with low grade or less desirable coins. But if it's cheap enough, I'd do it for certain coins........ Wheaties.......maybe some others

I was wondering if anyone has bought wholesale lots and what kind of experiences you might have had good or bad. I poked around the internet and one site kept coming up over and over from Collector's Internet. Has anyone heard of that one?

I've bought a couple pounds of "unsearched" wheaties before. Of course they were searched and picked clean (the seller would be crazy not to) but it didn't bother me much. I went in knowing I wouldn't find anything valuable and thus had no disapointment when I got a bunch of common place wheaties. I managed to plug a few holes in the old books and put together a couple rolls sorted by date/mint. Again, nothing special or worth anything outrageous but I'm still pretty satisfied with my venture.
Before purchasing, be sure to check about a return policy--I have heard that sometimes buyers get sent a bag full of corroded, nasty green pennies. And really, who among us wants that?

If anyone advertises "wholesale", "unsearched", or any other variety of that word then normally I'd recommend staying clear the best way is find auctions online of a random hodgepodge of stuff that's poorly listed and then sell everything individually later

I've done what grace suggested and I've gotten lucky so far. A couple of weeks ago I bought a lot of about 50 coins for $20something. It included an 1881-O Morgan in VF, so I didn't think I could go wrong on the lot. I sold one of the Buffalo nickels for $60 shipped and about 8 rough looking indian heads for a little over $1 each. I still have the rest of the coins here...the Morgan, some old silver quarters, a bunch of Buffalo nickels, a Barber dime, and an Indian Head penny that looks like it might be an overdate. Also got some teen wheaties in that lot. On that small lot alone, I tripled my investment and kept most of the coins. That's how I buy most of the coins that I want...I find a lot that includes the coin I want, then I sell off most of the remaining lot to recoup my investment. My collection up to this point isn't huge, but I have a lot of coins and some nice semi-keys. My net investment is basically nothing, because I'm buying in bulk and reselling, rather than buying individual coins. I know this can't easily be done with keys and MS coins, but it works well for beginner purchases.

I do like buying 'Unsearched Wheats' on ebay. Although searched for dates, most are not searched for reprinted mint marks.

I buy, have bought many lots mostly from "Marsha", or "Tracy"., and have gotten two '31-S, and couple of '09', and '09 VDB , a lot of proof sets, (handled as a single item, IE a Morgan, a buffalo, a mint set, etc from Tracy" I tried a small lot with a "type set, and a small amount of wheats. "Unsearched" of course. They were such that I went several times for 10X lots. I was a beginner, and needed something to learn, "on", about. I have gotten several lots of 1500 wheats from "Marsha", and have had good luck with then, as well. They were search <(by me) for "die dents, RPM's etc, with a certain amount of luck. As mentioned above, I too put them into date/rolls, for future reference. The price was a bit high, but to get enough to do something with, I keep going back. Their retutn poolicy is excellent. In fact I returned one small lot, and was refunded 100% of my cost. I have since biught several larger lots thom her, "Marsha". These are not the sellers names, but the owner/sellers, with whom I became quite friendly. In both cases we have emailed, frequently. I am advised of new acquisitions. Names will be given, if requested. Dick

No, I don't believe I've ever dealt with anyone from there.
Most of my purchases have been from sellers who are clearly not dealers. It's people selling their personal collections or inheritances. You can tell they have no clue what they're selling, because their photos are horrible and their descriptions are even worse. They generally have no history of buying or selling coins.
I just look for deals where I know I can resell 1 or 2 coins and make back my investment.
