Agree with mid-AU. Obverse is especially nice - love to luster and eye appeal.

Thanks so much for your input. I am new to Peace dollars and would like to know what keeps this example from being an MS piece? Lack of full luster?

Thanks!

AU58 I am seeing circulation rub on the cheek and neck that would keep the coin from being MS.

Thank you all so much. For future reference, I am trying to train my eye to see the "rub."

Am I correct in assuming that "rub" shows in the dark spots on Liberty's cheek (directly to the left of her hair) and towards the front of the neck?

The obverse looks like a well struck low end Mint State (MS-61) piece with some marks. The reverse looks dull and is not so nice with a small rub on the high points of the eagle's wing. I'll go with AU-55.

Here is what I based my grade on: one of the high spots on the Peace dollar is the lower neck ridge and the ridge appears to have some slight wear. Circulation rub will diminish the luster where contact is made. The cheek and neck appear not to have much remaining luster. Some of the grades were AU 55 and I certainly understand because the coin has a lot of contact marks. I chose AU 58 because there is still luster in the fields. For me the reverse on the coin did not sway my grade.
Rest in Peace

58 obverse, 55 reverse, but I'll grade 58.
