Hello all, I'm a mom of 4 from Florida, new two collecting. It all started with occasionally getting 2 dollar bills, Ikes, half dollars and small dollars for my kids as treats and stashing them away. It has recently developed into a hobby buy only consisted of going through the massive amounts of change in the house (and a few rolls from the bank) i feel like I have set aside a fair amount of intersesting finds.
I have handled money since my teens and feel I have a keen I for spotting differences in size/texture (now after reading books/sites and blogs I'm kicking myself for some of the things I tossed back into circulation) so now I'm starting my collection, hoping some of my finds are really not so common, instead of just seeing rings that aren't there. Thanks all.

A lot of us started by pulling stuff from circulation. Learn as much as you can before buying coins. I hope the kids are in on this too!

the youngest is too young, but the 5 year old is having a blast sorting, and she's learning too :)

Welcome to the Community, CoinMom4! I am a mother of 3 (still in school), and like you, I have dabbled over the years in the hobby, and I recently started to actually better organize my nicer finds. Glad to see you on board!

Glad to have you here. I started with a State Quarter folder and my kids looking around the house in change trying to fill it up. Now many folders later we are still searching.
