I have a chance to buy a 1911 50 cent coin. Can someone give me a trends value and possibly the charlton value for this coin in VG and F. I am trying to get an idea of what to offer. Thanks in advance

Don't overpay.
Check ebay sold prices for a good indicator of realistic prices.
Likely to be about one-third of Charlton prices.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

A quick search of sold listings on ebay showed that a VG sold for anywhere between $15 and $25. Couldn't find any F examples but my guess would probably be around the $40 to $50 mark

Although I agree with the VG pricing I will disagree with the pricing on the F, it's much harder to find in fine then a VG or even VG10. The only one I could find that sold recently went for over $65 and was cleaned at that so I would say a real problem free F12 would be worth more then that.

Not really..
It's what anyone wants to pay for that or other coins.
