Xxx3-P Roosevelt Dime - Coin Community Forum

bethwv New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 02/11/2017 09:52 am Trying to identify this dime I found. I am not an avid coin collector, so I don't know the lingo used. Bear with me :) This coin appears to have something wrong with it. The date being the most obvious at first look. The edge of the coin is half smooth/blank. I've searched all the xxx3-P dimes and cannot find one like this one. Any insight would be appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

Second, it is a little hard to tell from your pictures, but either the first three digits were damaged and thus largely removed after minting (so-called PSD) or else the three numbers in that die had a little bit of grease in them when this coin was struck. If you search CCF for the keyword " Greaser" you will see lots of examples as this seems to be a fairly common occurrence. There is a hit on the obverse that was so strong it damaged the reverse flatting the design. So the date and time are probably from the same abuser. PSD Report this Post to the Staff
