Lucky Cuss Pillar of the Community United States 4883 Posts	Posted 07/27/2017 12:48 pm A better date of the type, this specimen exhibiting slight but readily discernable rubbing of the high points on the obverse. Besides opining on the resulting grade, perhaps somebody could also answer a question for me. I see this issue consistently cataloged as "1898H" denoting that it was struck at Heaton's Mint in Birmingham. Is there a story behind why, unlike earlier such, these don't bear the usual "H" mint mark? Colligo ergo sum Report this Post to the Staff

okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5594 Posts	Posted 07/27/2017 6:39 pm BTW, the 'H" mintmark will be all over the place because it was handpunched into each die. It can be high, low, left, right, tilted, etc. None of the mintmark placements are any scarcer than any other.
