I am not sure, but I am pretty sure it happened at the mint.

What am I missing? Picture #1 at the rim (above "IN GOD"), looks a lot different then picture #3 at the rim (above "IN GOD"). Maybe it's the angle of the photo or the lighting. They almost look like two different coins. Still a beautiful coin!

It is definitely the same coin and I agree that whatever is going on with the obverse rim happened at the mint, so it should not affect technical grade, only eye appeal.

I will go out on a limb and say MS-66RD.

MS66RD. I would go higher, if not for the obverse rim defect.

Just for my edification, can you retake your pictures directly over the coin. I know it's one coin. I just want to understand why I'm seeing, what I'm seeing.
