Hi all,

I recently picked up this coin, please grade.. Please note the green stuff was some sort of organic material it came off in an acetone bath. I thought it was verdis but it was just some plastic matter. I only noticed the green stuff when looking at the picture in full resolution. Its now removed in the coin but of course my camera is all packed away and my wife is asleep. I'll try to take another picture tomorrow.

Looking at a high XF to AU coin. The green stuff may slightly interfere in grading and may nick it a few points.

That's what I am thinking. Its 136 years old and looks better than a lot of coins I have. It wasn't expensive so I was very happy with its condition.

AU55.
Just keep away fro other coins.
Bronze disease (green verdigris) can spread from coin to coin. Copper nickel coins don't normally suffer from this.

Is that a scratch on the cheek? Reverse pic looks blurry.

I'm going to repost new pictures without the green stuff. I'll do before 12. Thank you all so far. Pretty much what I thought on the grade.

The green stuff is likely PVC residue.

AU-58, I doubt it actually circulated but has been mishandled over the years.
