I'm fairly new to the coin collecting. So much input anyone can give on this quarter would be greatly appreciated. It's a 1987 D Washington quarter that we just came across in our change.

What exactly are you seeing that you feel is an error? I do see a bad gouge on Washington's bust, if that is what you are asking about it is just damaged.

@gebg, yes that linear mark down George's bust and into the date is just damage. This quarter looks like a spender to me. With regard to picture orientation, I think that if you hold your phone horizontally (with both hands) rather than vertically, the pics will come out right when you post them here.

Junk coin. It's been heavily circulated and damaged. Not an error coin. Worth face value.

Damaged. When a coin has a scratch on the coin, it leaves a plowed through area and two raised sides next to the incuse area. (Looking like a snow plow went through level snow.
