I'm fairly new to the coin collecting. So much input anyone can give on this quarter would be greatly appreciated. It's a 1987 D Washington quarter that we just came across in our change.
What exactly are you seeing that you feel is an error? I do see a bad gouge on Washington's bust, if that is what you are asking about it is just damaged.
@gebg, yes that linear mark down George's bust and into the date is just damage. This quarter looks like a spender to me. With regard to picture orientation, I think that if you hold your phone horizontally (with both hands) rather than vertically, the pics will come out right when you post them here.

Damaged. When a coin has a scratch on the coin, it leaves a plowed through area and two raised sides next to the incuse area. (Looking like a snow plow went through level snow. PSD = Spendable.
