Got this from a roll of pennies from the bank yesterday. I've asked around and just can't figure it out. Does it appear to be possibly a fake? Coming from the bank, I thought I would ask on here. Any thoughts?

@CF2, can you please post the weight? I agree that something weird is going on with that obv rim.

Occasionally, people will work the rim of a Lincoln cent with the intent to encase the coin in some form of decorative holder.

Well its not a 2009 Bicentennial reverse, so some type of alteration.
Maybe there's a microchip inside.

something funny is up with this coin. I'm leaning towards a Magician's coin. Weight might tell.

Deliberate falsification, but hard to believe any magician's audience would pick up on something this subtle.

you should always hold your coin by the edge to avoid the dreaded finger print

I've heard of 2004 nickels being faked... perhaps this might be another fake.
Currently interested in buying 1957 and earlier Russian and Soviet coins. Let me know if you have any and we can hook up a deal!

Many coins are altered. This one is trying to look like a mint error. A fake coin, intended to deceive. Make it look like something it is not. It doesn't show the 'FG'. A lot of detail is missing from the bust. It maybe a totally counterfeit coin?

The strange thing is that on this "2009 with Memorial rev" fabrication it looks like both the obv and rev pieces are fake. (I'm sure the Obv piece is fake and I'm fairly sure about the rev.) So it is a fake error made with fake parts.
