So, I picked this one up off ebay, as a gamble, pictures were not so good, figured I could always return it if it was trash. Was listed as a Brilliant proof, which I believe it to be the Satin proof, of which I want an example of both anyways. For the price, I really didn't want to pass it up though.

Not many of those made. Great acquisition. Sorry I can't venture a guess on the grade as I'm not familiar with what to look for with that particular finish.

Looks like a satin to me. I'll say PR66 BN, hard to tell what the true color is from these pics.

PS, my Buff set is still waiting for an upgrade from one of those 1915's you picked up

I got lucky and got this coin for 275 bucks, figure I did well. I'd say it is RB in hand honestly.

Haha, I'll eventually get those buffs graded, just keep bugging me, it tends to help motivate.

IMO you're a gambler.
To pay the much for a raw coin that you think MIGHT be a proof is sticking your neck out.
If the seller didn't make any claim about it being a proof, then you're stuck with it.
Describe it as if there were no picture.
Picture it as if there were no description.

They made a claim and it was clear enough to see that it was...and he had a return policy.

I'll go with PR64. Decent toning. Nice coin.

You can get some great deals that way. I would agree with this one, a no brainer at that price. As long as that safety net of the return is there. First set of pics look BN to me, second pic of obverse could go either way Find out in hand, good luck!

Will definitely do! I'm a gambler too, so I have no problem with raw

it does have the look for a proof but I'm not familiar with the markers on these. I'm going with the crowd on the PR call. looks at least PR65 and even 66. a little too much light to determine color but I'm going with BN on this one

Nice pickup.

Was it the squared rims that confirmed it for you?

Looks like a business strike to me. All of the 36 proofs I've seen have mirrored fields.
