I agree with Princetane's above comments - these were low denomination coins that were in general circulation in the UK until 1971. My local coin dealer has dozens of them in a junk box for 10 pence (13 US cents) each.
I can't quite work out what the 'thing' is on the thrift stalks on the top coin. Is it definitely part of the coin and not something that's just got stuck onto it? I suppose it could be a retained cud. If so, it's of interest but not of great value - collectors of British coins aren't really into errors and varieties in the same way that US collectors are.
