I bought a good number of 'unknown date' original bank rolls (obverse exposed at both ends) earlier this summer, and just am opening them now, mostly to search for higher grades for a PCGS upgrade.
A bunch of rolls are dated 1979, and then this one popped out. At first, I thought it was broadstruck, given the length of the denticles and lack of rim, but I decided to weigh it.
At 2.05 grams, this is a mint state 1979 1-cent struck on a New Zealand 1c planchet. First wild foreign planchet roll find for me in quite some time. Shame it is one of the coins with a light fingerprint on in - but still always exciting to find!
