US Mint Releases The Final America The Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin On 4/8/21

US Mint - The United States Mint (Mint) will accept orders for the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin™ honoring the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama beginning on April 8 at noon EDT. This is the 56th and last five ounce silver coin to be released in the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. Mintage is limited to 20,000 units, with no household order limit.  The coin's reverse (tails) design depicts a Tuskegee Airman pilot suiting up to join the fight during World War II, with the Moton Field control tower in the background. The pilot looks upward with pride and confidence as two P-51 Mustangs pass overhead. The inscription "THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS" is arced across the top as a reference to the dual battles the Tuskegee Airmen fought—fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home. Inscriptions are "TUSKEGEE AIRMEN," "ALABAMA," "2021," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The obverse (heads) design features a 1932 restored portrait of George Washington.

As I've stated numerous times in the ATB 5-oz thread, I'm glad to see this series come to an end, if only for the fact that I don't have to buy these things 5x/year!  |

May silver go to $500.00 an ounce for you guys. I only own two 5 oz quarters.

I thinking...Sell out on the first day...What do others think? My guess is no. Other recent issues have sold a total of only around 13,000 - 15,000 out of the 20,000 available. Being the premium is very high over spot, my guess is this will not be in super high demand for potential flipping at a significant profit. I hope I am wrong and you are right - that the demand is super high, and that results in new blood getting an interest in this series. Steve

There is no Household Limit on the last puck, it is the last puck and we all saw what happened to the last Type 1 ASE this year with a HHL of 99. I'm not taking any chances and I will be buying at noon on the 8th. I would do an enrollment, but those are no longer a guarantee since some ASE enrollments weren't fulfilled on the last issue. I only need one more to complete the set, I don't want to get shutout now.

When I read about the start of the series shortly before it came out in 2010, I was interested, but at that time my income did not allow for me to purchase these. I also seem to remember that at the beginning the prices of new issues were much higher, but only after a couple of years or so did the issue pricing drop. Then around 2013 my income increased to the point that I felt I could afford them, so I started putting the set together, buying the past releases on eBay. Almost all of the new releases I would buy from either Modern Coin Mart or APMEX. During the past two years or so, as grading at PCGS for this series apparently got tighter and the supply MCM and APMEX chose to have graded was reduced (to some extent due to lower collector demand), I would regularly speak to the Product Specialist at APMEX to find out when they would be available online, and I would then be ready to pounce the momemt it became available.
