There is a die pair where the VDB is very faint even on higher grades, so I guess given the wear here this could be one of those, but personally I don't see it.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but after the fiasco with the 1909 VDB being so prominent on the reverse wasn't it removed from 1910-1917 and added to the bottom of the bust in 1918?

If there is a VDB on your 1909's, it would be on the reverse at the bottom between the wheat stems. Not on the obverse. The VDB was removed altogether part way through 1909 and later replaced on the obverse on Lincoln's coat in 1918 as mentioned before.

I didn't know that . I usually don't look too closely at the reverse on wheat cents. I have alot of searching to do

Can you post up a picture of the reverse? full coin, then a close up of the bottom between the wheat stalks near the rim please?

If it were to have a V.D.B. it would be at the bottom near the rim on the reverse, not under Lincoln's bust on a 1909 anyway.
