I have 4 1909s and this is the only one that I can slightly see the vdb. Is this acceptable or do I need to find a better example

There is a die pair where the VDB is very faint even on higher grades, so I guess given the wear here this could be one of those, but personally I don't see it.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but after the fiasco with the 1909 VDB being so prominent on the reverse wasn't it removed from 1910-1917 and added to the bottom of the bust in 1918?

If there is a VDB on your 1909's, it would be on the reverse at the bottom between the wheat stems. Not on the obverse. The VDB was removed altogether part way through 1909 and later replaced on the obverse on Lincoln's coat in 1918 as mentioned before.

If it were to have a V.D.B. it would be at the bottom near the rim on the reverse, not under Lincoln's bust on a 1909 anyway.

Both true - don't know why you are seeing VDB's all over. But it's always on the reverse.

In the process of learning, the OP does not know where the 'VDB' shows up on a 1909 LWC. I had asked for pics of the reverse bottom only, but...
