Paul Bulgerin,
Happy retirement and congrats on a very nice coin. Will we be seeing more of you now that you have extra time on your hands?

I need to correct myself. The MS-66 Draped Bust Large Cent I saw in the Tyrant Collection wasn't an 1803/2 but an 1807/6.

Here it is. The story told in the video for the show says that this coin was given to a baby born in 1807 and it stayed in his family for two centuries.

Firstly, congrats on your retirement! Secondly, great pickup! I'm very partial to Seated halves, I think they're a wonderful series. Thirdly, what a crazy large cent!

If I may, what did you pay? I purchased a 1877-S half in MS-64 3 years ago myself for $1100. I'm curious to see what they're actually selling for today

The 1877-S lists on the Numismedia FMV site for $1,440 in MS-64. I paid $1,500 for this coin. It was a bit more than current list value but I have been looking for a nice example for quite some time and this is the best one I have come across.

I stood and thought about it for several minutes. I actually walked away from the dealer's table, then said to myself, "Go for it" and went back.

It was quite an experience for me to count out fifteen one hundred dollars bills and lay them on the dealer's table. I have never done anything like that before.
