@leg, first welcome to CCF. Second, to see what sort of premium there might be to bullion value, have you tried looking at eBay sold prices yet?

Yes, but this is PCI which is older grading service and the coin is rainbow toned so needed some opinions.

If this really is a MS-70 coin (not so sure), then it should be worth around $1,200 according to PCGS.

I'll say $35-$40. What you have is a nicely toned bullion ASE. The greysheet for MS69/OGP is $33.50-$35.00. Its graded MS 70 by PCI which the market doesn't value highly, so in essence you have a bullion coin. Hence my value. No one will give MS70 money for a coin graded by PCI.

E-bay isn't a great way to value coins, overpriced and almost always can be found for (a lot) less elsewhere. Concur with hfjacinto

@legenstud: If you truly believe your coin is MS-70 (something I would suggest is highly unlikely), you need to submit it to PCGS and have them assign a grade.

The only way you will ever be able to sell the coin for more than the range hfjacinto is suggesting, is by having it in a holder that is considered far more credible vs. PCI.

The thing is it will cost you more to get it grade by PCGS, if it doesn't turns out to be a MS-70, so if you believe it can graded as a MS-70, this is what you have to decide for yourself.

. PCI is not one of the three trusted companies. Your coin does have very nice eye appeal and the toning looks to be natural. It will most likely not grade a 70 at any of the TPGs that are trusted.I just checked eBay sold values which gives you a really good idea on current values, IMHO and only a few are slabbed and do not look naturally toned to me

PCI slabs are known for circular toning of coins, especially ASEs. There is a premium for those.

PCI Gold box grading is, politely, bunk.

If you check on ebay, search for MS-69 and PCI Toning. But most of them will be currently in PCGS holders which will cost you to regrade.

I disagree. For many (especially recently with the pandemic) ebay is THE market.

to use eBay as a price guide you need to check out SOLD prices, not asking prices..

I know a lot of people pay EBay prices I only ask why? I see common bullion morgans/Peace selling for $40-$50, who are buying these? The coin shown is a nice toned bullion ASE, if you pay more than $40, you are overpaying. Just my 2 cents.

Third-rate grading service. Coin needs to be resubmitted from scratch.
