Besides the current historic figures, who would you like to see (living or dead) put on a future coin? Just thought it would be interesting to see who people would pick.My pick john wayne or clint eastwood!

I suppose it'd work out better as a 3-D coin

With all seriousness aside I actually think Martin Luther King Jr. would be an excellent candidate for a commemorative coin. Doesn't have to be a black history thing or civil rights, but just a coin honoring the man

I cannot agree more Grace. If one wanted to go the civil rights route I would choose Rosa Parks for that one. My personal choice would be Yitzhak Rabin for his attempt at bringing peace to the Middle East and for his work that helped create the Oslo Accords, for which he was awarded the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize, along with Yasser Arafat and Shimon Peres.

Correct, you will never see a non-American on a circulating coin. Commemoratives are certainly not out of the question though. Quote: - Mark Twain (famous writer) -Samuel Clemens (famous writer)
Umm, that is the same person, Mark Twain is a pen name "mark twain" is a river navigation term that means the channel is deep enough for a boat to navigate, a depth of 2 fathoms or 12 feet. Clemens was a Mississippi River boat captain before he was an author. Quote: Alfred Tesla
Do you mean Nikola Tesla? He would be great for a commem but you might also be interested to know that Daniel Carr(designer of the New York and Rhode Island State Quarters) created a commem medal.

Jesse Owens given what he had to go through in the Nazi BErlin Olympics. I would add Rudi Juliani for upping the morale here in NYC post 9/11 as mayor.
