That defect could not be in a more prominent place. I wonder how that slipped through the US Mint's quality control department.

I'm not sure how it got passed through either. Out of three I bought from San Francisco mint this one is the only one with the mark on her face..

Just left of the center. That sucks. Quality control is terrible how could that have been missed?

Sorry about THIS !!!!!! They had Good intentions... I have seen Far too many defects for Expected Perfectly Struck 100th Anniversary Coins. |

It's a cull right from the mint. Apparently the mint employees don't care.

Apparently the mint employees don't care. And the Mint doesn't care as long as people keep buying from them. Everyone who received a damaged coin needs to send it back and leave an appropriate comment in their feedback section. Maybe even boycott the mint for a year or two  John1 |

I just opened my 9 "cc" dollars. 3 of them have minor "bag marks" on them. One has obvious machine oil dribbled on it. So far about 40% of my 2021 dollars have minor defects. I have 3 Philly and 3 peace to go.

Indeed, the US Mint is an automaton that feeds on the insatiable need of modern collectors who will never see the light at the end of an endless tunnel.
