So I received an 1955 p federal reserve bank roll of pennies and I'm wondering if I should open it and take my chances something valuable is in it or should I keep it intact and maintain the value as a roll?

I would personally keep it intact. Someone put that aside and took good care of it for 67 years. It kills me to see someone open it, and ruin the previous owner's streak. Imagine this intact for another 100 years...

That wrapper is in strangely good condition for the age.

It was in a vacuum sealed bag, which I've put it back in until I can decide what to do. But that 1955 DDO is tempting for a poor person #128517;

How do you know all the coins in that roll are 1955? I would open it and look for the obvious things. I do not think it was wrapped by the U.S. government.

I say open it, but be careful and try to preserve the wrapper.

Received from where? Chances are high it's a roll built by someone and not a genuine OBW roll. You'd be surprised how many of these are faked, especially rolls potentially containing high dollar coins like the 55/55 DDO.

They've been saying for decades that an OBW roll of 1955-P Lincolns don't exist anymore . That they have all been opened and checked for the Doubled Die . Can you show us photos of the end coins of this roll . There are many shysters out who open those roll , take out all the good stuff then put back regular 55's and reroll them with old wrappers and know how to make them look like genuine OBW's .
Your call to open or salt away in a plastic tube taped shut for another 20 or 30 years with possibilities of it being worth tens of thousands of Dollars .

My bad detector is going off! Even your photo is like eBay auctions. Can't see the ends. Wrapper looks too good. Highly faked year. Not saying you did anything but I'm highly suspicious of this one.
Need lots more pictures. And I say open it!

Well I'm curious about this one. Need to see the full roll not just the center. seeing the enders would be nice as well. Maybe a shot of the roll seam too.
All in all, I say open that time capsule

Well I opened it and the coins inside were starting to turn green lol. I didn't find anything good, shocker. But I'm definitely going to heed the advice and not purchase anymore. 10 of the very center coins had turned green and I'm not sure but I think I found a tiny bit of maple syrup on one coin guy that sold it to me has the handle of huggable tom on ebay incase you wondered.

And, after the fact, have to agree with @jacrispies that the wrapper shows no natural sign of aged paper at all.
