Hi, I'm new here and this is my first posting. Here is a penny I found in a roll. Couldn't help but notice a missing A. Any insight on this would be highly appreciated.

I'm thinking struck-through grease ( Grease Filled Die).

You can see other letters that are also light..
Due to a partially Grease Filled Die.
A fairly common occurance.

First welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with this weakness of strike likely being due to a little grease in the die. It is a little hard to know for sure though with this amount of circulation wear.

This kind of thing is much less common in Canadian coins, I'd definitely keep a struck through if an entire letter was missing.

On a side note it made me laugh because I have talked to a few Americans with heavy accents that when they say America sound like Merica so it made me giggle a bit:p

Wrekkdd is right on American accents. Living in Ohio I hear most Ohioans ( Ah-ioans ) saying "Merica" without them even noticing it.
