The DDO-001 on 1954-S is a very mild bit of doubling, and may not even be visible in the photos (maybe the extra thickness on the 4 of the date). But it is quite easy to know when you have one as there are usually lathe lines visible to some extent around IN GOD. You see those, you have the DDO. But just found this one and wow, not sure I've ever seen lathe lines this strong on a Wheat cent before.

Nice, very nice. For whatever reason I like coins with the lathe lines still on them. Having trouble seeing the doubling though. The 4 does look a little bloated?

That is very interesting. I'm going to have to take you word on the DDO however.

I would definitely consider this a twofer! Very nice! That is obviously, a very early obverse die. This die made it through three reverse changes, too.

Lathe lines? Seen those on a few coins and thought they were PMD and returned to the discard pile..... Glad I read this post. Thanks Batman.

Thanks folks! It's just quite the strong bit going on with this one. So Dearborn the DDO reference with VarietyVista is DDO-001 Stage A EDS. I'd say VEDS, but that's me. It's honestly visible under a loupe on parts of the motto, but pretty close to needing a scope to see it well as it is pretty thin and light. But in the full coin image you actually can see a light vertical separation line on the 4 of the date which is why it looks so chubby.
